The Department of Computer Science at Wake Forest University invites applications for a one-year visiting position to begin in July 2022. We are seeking candidates with strong interest in engaged undergraduate teaching. If funding is available, and contingent on the outcome of a first year review, a one-year extension could be possible.

Completion of a PhD in Computer Science or a closely related field prior to or within 6 months of the date of hire is preferred, although candidates with an MS in Computer Science or a closely related field may be considered. The position title, Visiting Assistant Professor or Visiting Instructor, will be dependent on the candidate’s terminal degree status. The expected teaching load is three courses a semester, with the primary responsibility of the post being teaching of introductory and core courses. Opportunities may also exist to teach electives related to the candidate’s area of expertise and to access departmental funding for professional development.

The DOE Omni Technology Alliance Internship Program provides paid 10-week summer internships for up to three consecutive summers for talented undergraduate and graduate students in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, and other related fields.

Interns will hold appointments at DOE national laboratories, Power Marketing Administrations (PMAs), plants, DOE Headquarters, and other approved sites.

UofSC students, enrolled in Computer Science and Engineering programs, with focus on cybersecurity and related disciplines, are eligible to apply for the DoD CySP.  The motivation for the program and application information are provided at the DoD CySP website: 

"Given our increasing reliance on cybersecurity, information technology (IT), the growing threats to information, and information systems and infrastructures, it is critical that the Department of Defense (DoD) protect itself. To do so, the DoD must be staffed with technically savvy personnel. To help achieve this task, the DoD Cyber Scholarship Program (DoD CySP) was established. The DoD CySP is sponsored by the DoD Chief Information Office and administered by the National Security Agency (NSA). The objectives of the program are to promote higher education in all disciplines of cybersecurity, to enhance the Department’s ability to recruit and retain cyber and IT specialists, to increase the number of military and civilian personnel in the DoD with this expertise, and ultimately, to enhance the nation’s cyber posture.

Recruitment Scholarships (Non-DoD Employees):

As a recruitment tool, the DoD CySP sponsors students who currently are not DoD or government employees who are enrolled in or applying to universities designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity. The research assistants will serve as a developer to develop data science platforms and enable them through the web portal as SaaS and work at least 10 hours per week. The range of the compensation would be from $13.00 to $20.00 per hour. Based on the RA performance, it is possible to renew the contract for Summer and Fall 2022.

The U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Mickey Leland Energy Fellowship (MLEF) Program is a 10-week summer research program for undergraduate and graduate students in STEM majors. Learn from our mentors and gain experience while completing a cutting-edge research project. Participants receive a stipend. Travel and housing assistance are provided to eligible participants.

Eligibility Requirements:

We are pleased to announce nine undergraduate student openings for a 10-week Summer Undergraduate Research Experience centered in the Computer Science Department at Virginia Commonwealth University’s College of Engineering in Richmond, VA. Students will work on computer science research projects. Research projects will involve faculty-specific topics focused on the areas indicated below, with an emphasis on providing the student with a comprehensive summer research experience. Students will participate in weekly meetings designed to prepare them for technical careers and/or graduate school. Students will also present their own research findings at the end of the summer.
