Talk about Java to Teens

Hi Computing Major!

If you will be in the Columbia area this summer and are willing to devote a bit of your time to a worthwhile endeavor, then here is an opportunity to teach someone else what you have learned about computing! You can also brush up on some of your programming skills and even satisfy the objectives of “USC Connect!”

If you are interested, please contact either Mr. Maluck directly or me (with one level of indirection).

I am in charge of teen services for my library branch and would like to request that a speaker well-versed in computer programming, especially Java, come here to speak to teens with little to no experience. My intention for the library program is to have an experienced programmer speak about why programming is only becoming more essential in today’s world, then letting teens loose with free programming “playgrounds” such as Hackasaurus (for HTML) and Codecademy (for Java and soon other languages).

The times for the classes will be four Mondays from 3-5pm: June 11 & 25 and July 9 & 23.
Please let me know if anyone is available to speak at the Northeast branch.

Thank you for your time,

Thomas Maluck
