The Center for Digital Humanities (CDH) at USC will be immediately hiring 1-2 undergraduate or graduate students to help our Associate Programmer build a web-based user interface for a database project.
The DB is in MySQL and the scripting is in PHP. Applicants must have experience using both MySQL and PHP.
The student(s) may work as few as 10 and as many as 20 hours per week on the project. All work will be done on site at the CDH, on the 5th floor of Thomas Cooper Library (1322 Greene Street). At least half of the 10-20 weekly hours must be done while our Associate Programmer is himself on shift (Monday through Thursday, 10:30 AM-2:15 PM), so that he and the new employee(s) can work together in person to solve problems and divide up work.
Pay is $15/hour.
The UI must be completed by November 15, 2012. Position(s) may become permanent after November, if performance is satisfactory and new employee wishes to stay on.
If you are interested, please do both of the following:
- First, email Colin Wilder (firstname.lastname@example.org) and CC Mike Helms (email@example.com) to introduce yourself. Explain your experience with MySQL and PHP. Attach your resume and give at least 2 references (professional or a computer science instructor who knows you and your work).
- Next, come to the CDH in person between Monday and Thursday, 10:30 AM – 2:00 PM, to introduce yourself. Ask for Mike Helms. Mike will speak with you about the project and ask you about your experience with MySQL and PHP.
