Four positions of Student Researcher are available as part of an internally-funded grant project. Undergraduates from any discipline may apply; coursework in Media Arts, Art History, Graphic Design, Computer Science, Geography, and Library Science is preferred. Student Researchers will contribute to a collaborative and interdisciplinary project devoted to reimagining eighteenth-century architectural illustrations and maps by Giovanni Piranesi from USC’s Irvin Department of Rare Books and Special Collections. Working in teams along with a Project Manager during the academic year, Student Researchers will scope digital visualization and image manipulation programs, develop two thematic “mock-up” demonstrations, determine the time, labor, and technology necessary to fulfill future project goals, and share “mock-ups” with project staff and faculty participants. Working knowledge of Italian preferred but not essential. Pay rate: $10/hr; 10 hours/week Preferred qualification: minimum GPA of 3.5.
