CodeDay is a hackathon-style event for high school students. The event takes place from noon to noon, May 23–24 at IT-oLogy. More info is at http://codeday.org/columbia. This is part of a national CodeDay effort, but is being organized locally by the folks who put on the Columbia TEDxYouth conference and our February CodeDay. The organizers are looking for a variety of different volunteers to serve as staff, coding coaches, trainers, chaperones, and judges. No coding expertise is required for several of these roles, but experienced programmers are needed as well. This would be a great opportunity for the AITP students, ACM students, PMI professionals, and others to serve as mentors for the high school students. We also need help in promoting the event to relevant audiences. If you know high school students or teachers who could participate and talk up the event at their schools, I would appreciate getting their contact information. If you are interested in participating in any capacity, please contact Kevin Rabinovich at kevin@kevinrabinovich.me.
