Research Interests

Data Mining, with a focus on Bayesian networks. The aim is to advance the state of the art and design decision analysis tools for domains with abundant data, and to elucidate knowledge by discovering patterns within the data. This work was partially funded by NCR and Teradata.

Networks of Wireless Sensors  We developed real-time multi-target tracking systems that collect target information from Doppler radars and Motes sensors. This work was funded by the DARPA ANTS program.

Mobile Computing  We are using the .NET platform to develop virtual communities that provide users with information based on their location, their profiles, and the events in their proximity. A related system takes patients vital signs from Bluetooth-enabled devices and transmit the data to the virtual community, which in this case is part of a hospital. This work was partially funded by Microsoft.

Holter Monitoring. I designed the software for the first internet-friendly Holter monitor (a device that monitors cardiac and blood pressure). Future plans are to upgrade the monitor by adding wireless transmission, so that patients could wear disposable electrodes, and be monitored continuously regardless of their location.

My first job was posing as the Gerber baby...

...then I became a graduate student...

... I tried (failed) at many jobs...

Praying did not help me either...

I became a musician to pay my studies..

Now that I teach, students complain about my methods....

But this is what I mean when I say that programming is just another journey..
