What it's all about?
–
Increasing awareness of computer security – focusing on personal computers and
the use of Internet – demonstrating the ease with which computer systems and
communication messages can be compromised.
The students will learn about available tools and techniques to
strengthen security.
Activities:
1. Hide a message: Experiment with one of the easiest to use
encryption/decryption tools.

Try to break a
simple encrypted text… can’t do it?
·
Here is how it was
encrypted. Try again.

Now, have fun
with some harder to break encryption using an online tool.
Hint: copy and paste the encrypted
text into the ciphertext window of the online tool. Change the number of lines shifted until you
see the joke.
2. Are you safe from phishing? Phishing usually involves sending an e-mail to
a user in an attempt to trick the user to visit a web site. The web site claims to be a legitimate site where
the user is asked to update personal information, such as passwords, credit
card number, or bank account number.
However, the web site is fake and it was created to steal the user’s
information.

3. Master of
Security: ” The goal of the game is to protect your software from
harmful threats: adware, spyware, viruses, etc. To kill security invaders you must build
security shields on the game desktop. All invaders, except viruses, can’t go
