Since the National Science Foundation began its Career Award Program in
1995, only 22 faculty members at USC have received grants, and the Computer
Science and Engineering Department has received *seven* of these. The winning
researchers were congratulated at a ceremony April 6, 2007 by President
Andrew Sorensen, Provost Mark Becker, and Vice President for Research and
Health Sciences Harris Pastides, who noted that this is the most prestigious
grant that NSF awards. Congratulations to Csilla Farkas, Srihari
Nelakaditi, Gang Quan, Kirk Cameron (now at Virginia Tech), Homay Valafar, Jose Vidal and Steven Fenner.
