Position #1: Graduate Assistant Programmer

The CDH seeks to fill Graduate Assistantships for the 2014-15 academic year, one for a Computer Science student and one for a student in Library and Information Science. See details below. CDH is a campus unit that collaborates with faculty, staff and students at USC in the creation of software, databases and websites primarily for scholarly research but also for teaching. The Center consists of a total of 2 permanent full-time staff and 14 part-time (student) staff (both undergraduate and graduate students), in addition to the Director and Associate Director, who are faculty. Position #2: Project Programmer

The Center for Digital Humanities (CDH) at the University of South Carolina seeks to hire a student programmer to work on projects. CDH is a lab that creates computer programming and digital media projects for applications in the Humanities. We are physically located in Thomas Cooper Library at USC. CDH employs both undergraduate and graduate workers during the semesters and over the summer. Projects frequently involve creating relational databases, parsing text and creating UI’s (with help from our web designer). Ideal Qualifications · Willing to learn new software and languages · Have experience with relational databases · Know 2-3 programming languages · Available to work on campus Autumn, Spring for 10-15 hours per week Both graduate students and advanced undergraduates are eligible to apply. Position to begin as soon as possible. Please inquire about working here over the summer as well. All work for the position must be done on site in CDH, on the 5th floor of the Thomas Cooper Library. Position #3: Linked Data / Semantic Web Programmer

The Center for Digital Humanities (CDH) at the University of South Carolina seeks to hire a student programmer to work on Linked Open Data (LOD, linked data) projects. CDH is a lab that creates computer programming and digital media projects for applications in the Humanities. We are physically located in Thomas Cooper Library at USC. CDH employs both undergraduate and graduate workers during the semesters and over the summer. For the past seven months, CDH has worked to publish data from relational databases as linked data for the semantic web. This involves mapping relational data to RDF and creating and publishing triples. We have made progress but the student working on the project is graduating in May. Therefore we need to find someone to take over his work. Ideal Qualifications · Interest in Big Data · Willing to learn new software and languages · Have experience with relational databases · Know 2-3 programming languages · Available to work on campus Autumn, Spring for 10-15 hours per week · Available to work 5-10 hours per week in April and ideally May Both graduate students and advanced undergraduates are eligible to apply.
