Chin-Tser Huang
Associate Professor
University of South Carolina
Professor Huang's research interests include network security, network protocol design and verification, and distributed systems. His current research focuses on intrusion detection and wireless network security. Regarding intrusion detection, his research efforts aim to construct two separate but complementary views of the network's state in order to provide a comprehensive and precise interpretation: a macroscopic view in which the overall network traffic is viewed as time-series signal, and a microscopic view in which network is viewed as a collection of individual hosts. Regarding wireless network security, he investigates the security problems in different types of wireless networks such as 802.11 WLANs, 802.16 WiMAX networks, and sensor networks, and designs new protocols to provide several desirable security features, such as privacy, authentication, and non-repudiation.
