CSE undergraduate, Ben Fenner, places second in Microsoft Imagine Cup

Ben Fenner

Undergraduate Benjamin Fenner describes himself as a self-taught, self-employed computer technician seeking a computer science degree at the University of South Carolina.

Taking advantage of extracurricular activities, Benjamin entered two competitions for the 2006/2007 school year. While working as a programmer for the university's geology department, continuing to grow his own business, and building a small off-road vehicle for the 2007 SAE Mini Baja competition, Mr. Fenner decided to enter the 2007 Microsoft Imagine Cup programming competition. Ben managed to qualify for, and then place second in the regional semi-finals for the Imagine Cup competition while balancing the work load of a full time college schedule. Ben Fenner was one of twenty-four competitors invited to the national round of the Imagine Cup competition out of a pool of 500 qualifiers.

This summer Ben plans on putting in a good showing at the Imagine Cup finals, while allotting plenty of time for his personal life, including his many hobbies (parkour, automotive racing, paint ball, etc.).
